Friday Favorites, Vol. 10

Gosh, I can’t believe it’s already Friday (and June for that matter)! This week has been a complete whirlwind coming back from vacation and getting back into the swing of things. I ended up teaching way more yoga than planned this week due to a really unfortunate accident that happened to my friend and fellow yoga instructor at my studio (I’ve been trying to sub as many of her classes as possible). She was bit by a venomous snake on Memorial Day — twice — and has been in the ICU ever since, so please keep her in your thoughts and send her good vibes all around. Times like these make me so incredibly grateful to have a community here in DC that can rally around each other in times of need and this situation has really put into perspective just how precious our health is.

I’m spending a lot of this weekend working on some big projects and that I have coming up these next few months, but I’m hoping to squeeze in a couple of yoga classes and some quality time roaming the farmers market.  I’m also excited to head to a fun brunch at   tomorrow morning with Nicole of No Bread — who can say no to tacos?! It’s been so long since I’ve posted a round up of some of my favorite links and things from around the web, but there are just so many fun things to share that I needed to carve out some time to put them up on here!

A Few Updates

Eating with the Seasons :: I am so excited to be hosting a dinner in collaboration with Sweetgreen and Lululemon next Thursday night to launch Sweetgreen’s new summer menu! Unfortunately the event is sold out (so excited to meet all 60 of you who snagged a spot!!!) but you can always join the waitlist as we might be opening up some last minute spots early next week. We hope to plan an event like this again for the Fall, too, so stay tuned!

Vegetable and Butcher :: Lately I’ve had way less time on my calendar to cook as often as I’d like, so I’ve been turning to this meal delivery service to keep me fueled (I order 4 lunches a week and I swear it saves me so much time and energy!). I’ve tried a ton of other meal delivery services in the area but they all pale in comparison to V&B.

Quitting Your Job to Pursue Your Dream :: My sweet friend Alisha recently quit her job to pursue Girls’ Night In full-time and wrote about her decision to do so–I am so, so proud of her! As someone who left the “corporate” world a couple of years ago to do my own thing, I know how hard it is to go against the grain and can’t wait to see where GNI goes! You can sign up for the newsletter here or follow their Instagram here!

Things I’m Loving

Gratitude :: This new restaurant in LA (a more upscale version of Cafe Gratitude) is calling my name big time. I love everything about it from the design to the kombucha cocktails. I think it’s time for a trip to LA!

How To Maintain a Friendship When You’re In Different Life Stages :: I loved this article so much and could really resonate with a lot of the suggestions, especially the “avoid social comparisons” section. I was the first of my friends to get married by a landslide (I was 24) and navigating my 20’s being in a really different place than a lot of my friends and peers has been really interesting to say the least. My biggest takeaway = you do you and let your friends do their thing, too! The good ones will stick around no matter what.

Acupressure Mat :: Oh wow, I wasn’t expecting this product to be a game changer, but I finally bit the bullet on this acupressure mat + pillow and even 10 minutes a day on this thing has me feeling so relaxed and recharged. I don’t know how I didn’t have one of these sooner!

Guide to Tulum  :: My wanderlust was at an all-time high looking at Julia’s guide to Tulum. It’s been on my list for years but I think I’ve finally put it back at the top of my “absolute must visit in the next year” bucket list.

Speaking of Tacos :: It’s not really cauliflower season anymore, but this recipe looks too good to pass up. I think I’ll add this to my meal planning schedule for next week (yum!).

The Best Splurge :: I was long overdue for a new pair of running shoes and finally decided on these bad boys. I swear they are the most comfortable pair of sneakers I’ve ever owned (I am a Nike girl through and through) — now I want them in every color!

Superfood Lattes on Another Level :: We’re heading up to NYC next weekend to spending some time in the city (and also see my brother and a few of our friends in the meantime!) and I’m dying to try this superfood latte from The Good Sort.

What are you guys up to this weekend? I hope wherever you are it’s a good one!
